It is indeed a pleasure to announce that the Literature Selection Technical Review Committee of the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) accepted the American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology for inclusion in Medline/Index Medicus at its February 2003 meeting. Indexing will commence with the February 2003 issue of the Journal. Acceptance for Medline indexing represents a major accomplishment that will result in substantial benefits to the scientists and clinicians who use the information contained in AJSLP as well as the authors who publish their work here.
MEDLINE (Medical Literature, Analysis, and Retrieval System Online) is the NLM's premier bibliographic database. It is available free of charge on the Internet via PubMed or the NLM Gateway and can be searched through the NLM home page at http://www.nlm.nih.gov. It contains over 12 million references to journal articles in the life sciences from over 4,600 journals worldwide. Basic biomedical research and the clinical sciences since 1966 are covered including nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, allied health, and preclinical sciences. MEDLINE access is also available from medical and university libraries, many public libraries, and commercial sources.
